We certainly have had quite the different adventure this year. After we got the truck and RV fixed and moved to Palm Springs, we were hoping everything would go back to normal. But no, now we have the Corona Virus. Eventho Washington has more cases and more deaths, California was the first state to do a total lockdown. Nothing open except for essential businesses, so all we do now is go geocaching in the desert. We figured that was pretty safe. All of the activities in the park have been cancelled.
We were scheduled to go on a tour of the San Andreas Fault, but that, of course, was cancelled. There is always next year. I doubt the fault will have moved! Because of the stay in place order, we haven't been able to see our friends, but, again, there is always next year. Palm Springs is like a ghost town.
We are leaving a week from today to go to Pahrump, Nevada. I called a few days ago to see if the campground is still open. They are, but, before we get there, I have to call and make my payment over the phone. When we do get there, the welcome packet will be in the outside mailbox, so we don't even go into the office. I'm sure all the activities in the park will also be closed. Nevada now also has a lockdown so nothing will be open except essential places.
It has been suggested that we go home early but I really think we are safer here. Washington has alot more cases than either California or Nevada. At least we will be in warmer weather, probably just go geocaching in the desert. Pahrump is in the middle of the desert, Sixty miles of desert between Pahrump and the closest city, Las Vegas.
Everybody be careful and stay safe
